Rudolph V. "Rudy" Majkut

Rudolph V. "Rudy" Majkut, 100, of Madison, Ill., born November 27, 1916 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 1:43 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Christian Hospital NW.

Rudolph is a Retired United States Army Sgt. He served during WWII. He was a Pipefitter foreman at Spectrulite Consortium, Conalco, and Dow Chemical in Madison, and Alcoa Aluminum, East St. Louis, Ill. He also is a PRCUA Lodge 1004 (Polish Hall in Madison), Amvets Post 204, Polish Cultural Society, and Veteran Honor Flight on 11/11/11. He donated his time and enjoyed home remodeling for his family and friends. Rudolph was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed playing Bingo at the Missouri Veterans Home. He also loved to walk his dog, Pepe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Jaworowski, whom he married on January, 22, 1942 at St. Mary's in Madison; his parents, Paul and Julie, nee Militamy, Majkut; brothers, Paul (Kay) Majkut and Frank Majkut; sisters, Julia (Frank) Twardoski, Pauline (Joseph) Twardoski, Ann (Santo) Anselmo, Mary (frank) Vollmer, Margaret (Andy) Stefanik, and Rose (Frank) Schutzenhofer; sisters-in-law, Jennie Dyjeski and Mamie (Lawrence) Docter; brothers-in-law, Leonard and Frankie Dyjeski, and Joseph Jaworowski; and his beloved Chihuahua, Pepe.

Rudolph is survived by his daughter, Connie (Jerry) Grupas of Madison, Ill.; granddaughter, Dr. Angela Grupas of St. Louis, Mo.; brother-in-law, Stanley (Helen) Dyjeski of Troy, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers send memorial contributions to Masses at St. Mary's Church and Missouri Veterans Home.

Visitation: Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, Granite City, Ill.

Services: Funeral at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madison, Ill. with Fr. Jeff Holtman officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
