In Loving Memory of
James “Jim” Raymond Bain

James “Jim” Raymond Bain, age 81, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, February 5th, 2026, at Anderson Hospital.

Jim was born April 15th, 1944, in Granite City, Illinois, to James William and May Ruth (McCarthy) Bain. He grew up surrounded by a big, lively family and carried that same spirit of love and loyalty throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki Lynn Bain, who passed away in September of 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents James and May Ruth (McCarthy) Bain. He is preceded by his brothers Monroe “Sonny” Bain, William “Bill” Bain, Richard Bain, Jerry Bain and his sister Ruth Ann McEntyre. Preceded in death by brother in law Dennis Hartley and wife Linda; sister- in-law Lynita Hamby and husband Dennis; brother-in-law Terrance Hartley and nephew Paul Bender.

Jim is survived by his seven children, who were the pride of his life: Judy (Darl) Opel, Raymond “Todd” (Carla) Bain, Mark “Taco” (Paula) Martin, James “Jim” (Lari) Bain, Trish (Kerri) Bain, Katrina (Jeff) Cox, and Karla Bain, all of Edwardsville. He is also survived by a sister in law Connie (Don) Sloan, a sister in law Jannie Hartley and a sister in law Karen Bain. He was a loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy and laughter.

Jim was a proud and active member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge for over 50 years, where he formed lifelong friendships and dedicated countless hours to helping his community. He attained his Pilgrimage Degree in 2006 — a milestone he held with great pride.

He will be remembered for his humor, his steady strength, and his deep devotion to family. He had a knack for fixing just about anything, a love of good conversation, and a heart that never hesitated to help those around him.

Visitation is at Saksa funeral home in Edwardsville at 10am on Friday, February 13th. The service will be immediately after at 12 PM. Lunch will be served at the Edwardsville Moose Lodge in the back building.

He will be deeply missed, but those who loved him take comfort knowing he is reunited with his loving wife once again.
