Gloria A. Jellen

Gloria A. Jellen, age 89, of Edwardsville, died at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at her residence.

She was born April 12, 1928, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Matthew Smith and Adelaide Touchette Smith.

She married John J. Jellen on March 29, 1946, in Glen Carbon. He preceded her on Sept. 15, 1990.

She is survived by her children: John (Deborah) Jellen Jr. of Cobden, Ontario, Canada, Cheryl (Willard) Spencer of Edwardsville, Gary (Annalee) Jellen of Mahomet, Barry (Leslie) Jellen of Edwardsville, Gloria Urban of Skandia, Mich., Darren (Connie) Jellen of Beaver Creek and Elisa Jellen of Edwardsville; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters; Minerva and Jeanette.

She was a homemaker.

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21, with Gary Holliday officiating.

Interment will be in Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville.

Memorials are suggested to the Madison County Humane Society, Partners for Pets for Hospice of Southern Illinois
